Ready to get your photos taken? Here’s a checklist to help.

Exterior.

 
  • Clean the yard and prepare your landscaping.

  • Have visible weeds removed and the grass cut to an appropriate length.

  • Remove marks from concrete (stains from car oil, chalk, etc.).

  • If there is a pool, skim it to make it blue.

  • Sweep outdoor lounge areas and make sure furniture is clean.

  • Remove cars, trashcans, and large tools from property or out of sight.

  • All pool toys/sports equipment should be stowed away.

  • Remove all leaves and tree clippings from visible areas.

  • Pick up any dog droppings.

  • Remove any signs from yard/windows.

Interior.

 

  • Wipe of all countertops.

  • Empty all sinks and declutter countertops.

  • Remove all towels and sponges.

  • Keep trash cans out of sight.

  • Take down images/magnets from refrigerator.

  • Declutter rooms and remove all unnecessary items.

  • Ensure all lights are working. (And replace those that aren’t).

  • Vacuum all carpets.

  • Rid the walls and dark corners of spiderwebs and dust.

  • Wipe down window seals.

  • Scrub all tiles and floors.

  • Remove shoes, jackets, umbrellas, etc. from entry ways.

  • Open all curtains/blinds.

  • Turn off fans and turn on all lights.

  • Remove or hide all wires.

  • Remove all pets from the premises (Sorry we love your little furry friends but they cant be in the photos)

  • Remove all random Knick-knacks that may be found on floors.

  • Turn off all televisions and monitors.

  • Clear off any nightstands of unnecessary clutter.

  • Remove any personal items.

  • Hide any soaps/personal care products.

  • Keep toilet seats down.

  • Wipe down windows.

  • Replace toilet paper with new roll.

  • Wipe down all appliances (microwave, oven, stovetop, etc.).

  • Consider adding a centerpiece to the dining room table or kitchen countertop. This could be a bowl of fruit or some nice flowers.

Some things to consider.

 
  • Keep in mind that no person will be included in the images. If the home is currently occupied, please inform tenants that they either need to be outside of the property or in areas that cannot be seen during shooting.

  • All of this prep should be done before the arrival of the photographer.

  • If you do not want photos done of the garage, consider using it as a space to store/hide clutter while photos are done.
